Kohima, October 29 (MExN): Mental health is as important as any infrastructure, stressed the Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department (WRD) Nagaland, Er K Hutoi Sema on October 29.
To this end, he reminded the officials of the department that taking care of one's mental health is akin to maintaining a dam. If one ignores or does not check a little crack in the dam, it will create a huge problem downstream, Er Sema held, while giving the keynote address of a seminar associated with the World Mental Health month.
Thus, the Chief Engineer underscored the importance of keeping an eye on those cracks. “Similarly, if we don't have stable mental health, it will create hindrances in our work," he stated.
The one-day mental health seminar themed, "It’s Time to Prioritise Mental Health at the Workplace” was held for officers and staff of the WRD at the Chief Engineer Office Conference Hall in Kohima.
As per the State DIPR, the resource persons for the day's programme were Lovitoli Awomi, a Counseling Psychologist and Founder of the Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being in Chümoukedima, and Rev. Fr. Joe Mariadhas, Director of the Shalom Rehabilitation Centre in Chümoukedima. They highlighted topics such as perceived stress, emotional intelligence, and mental health in the workplace, respectively.
