
MON, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with Wakching Area Village Council, Konyak Union and the district administration, Mon on September 27 at Conference Hall, DC Office, Mon in regard to the proposed alignment of National Highways (SARDP-NE) Merankong-Tamlu-Mon road in Wakching Area.
The CM said in principle the government is giving nod to the proposed alignment while honouring the national highway rules and public interest in Wakching area. Towards this, the CM gave a week time frame to take decision and submit it in written to the government.
During the meeting, the CM claimed the government is ready to provide good road condition in Nagaland and to this he called upon the people to co-operate with the government for all round development especially on road communication.
In regard to the social work, Rio requested the district administrations, head of offices of various departments, police, NGOs, contractors and general public to participate in cleaning the drainage and road sides from September 29 to October 2.
The CM also mentioned that Nagaland will be declared as ‘No Plastic’ from November and in order to replace the use of plastic, he requested the local entrepreneurs to start alternative ways from bamboo and other village products. He requested the district administration to select the entrepreneurs who are interested to start local product in the district and submit it to the government. He also mentioned on proper checking of Inner Line Permit in the district and called upon all concerned, specially the house owners, to verify before renting out their premises.
The economy of the Nagas hugely depend on salary where majority wants government jobs but he lamented that government servants do not send their children to government schools, do not travel on NST buses and do not get treatment from government hospitals.
The CM was accompanied by Ministers including Pangnyu Phom, Paiwang Konyak, Tongpang Ozukum, Noke Wangnao, Advisors- Pohwang Konyak, Bongkhao Konyak and Chingwang Konyak, President NDPP & Chairman PDA, Government officials. The General Manager along with the officials of HNIDCL also attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS.
