In view of the incessant rains in the past few days, the Mercy Bridge over Jijiruku (Thetsiru) river in Meluri district has been severely damaged and likely to collapse, making it unsafe for human and vehicular traffic movement.

Mercy Bridge, which serves as the only connecting bridge for the Kamaleah area consisting of 5 villages namely Lephori (EAC Hq), Matikhrii, Kanjang, Akhen and Reguri.

The bridge was constructed during the early 1980s and has been playing a vital role in ensuring road connectivity for the entire region.

Meanwhile, in the interest of public safety, Meluri Deputy Commissioner,  K Mhathung Tsanglao has declared the bridge unsafe and closed for any form of vehicular movement till such time the restorative works are completed and declared safe for plying of traffic.
