Meeting for Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar campaign at Kohima Municipal Council office on May 16.

Kohima, May 18 (MExN): In pursuance of the directive of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MOHUA), a meeting with ward authorities including women and youth organisations along with SHGs was held on May 16 at Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) office.
The meeting was held to work out the modalities under Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Mission for Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar campaign.
The campaign will go for three weeks and will culminate on June 5 (World Environment Day) with mass cleanliness drives across all wards and ‘Pledge for LiFE drives.’
The objective of the campaign is to set up collection centres/Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centres for citizens to give used products such as plastic items, old books, used clothes & footwear or any other items can be further refurbished, reused or processed at the RRR Centres.
In Kohima, apart from other RRR Centres, the RRR Centre for Ward Nos. 5,6,7,8 and 9 which is earmarked at Super Market Complex will be inaugurated on May 20.
These RRR Centres will be geo-tagged and all information will be uploaded in Meri LiFE portal as well as Swachhatam Portal. An evaluation committee will assess the best performing RRRs and award ceremony will be held on June 5. After the campaign period, one permanent RRR Centre will be retained, according to KMC.
Dimapur: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all the chairman and GBs within DMC jurisdiction that there will be a campaign to set RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) centre under the theme ‘Meri Life Mera Swacch Shehar’ as per the initiative of SBM 2.0 (U) under Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
The programme will be launched at DDSC stadium, Golaghat Road at 11:00 am on May 20. All colony chairman and GBs have been requested to attend the programme without fail, DMC administrator W Manpai Phom in a circular.
The campaign aims to establish RRR Centres where citizens can contribute items like clothes, shoes, books, toys, newspapers and plastic (excluding single use plastics) for reuse and recycling. The campaign will run for three weeks and will culminate of World Environment Day (June 5) with a pledge for a clean and sustainable environment.
RRR competition is open to all colonies within DMC jurisdiction; Minimum of one colony per ward; Self-Help/NGOs can participate representing the colony with consent and NOC from the colony council; Participating colonies will have to submit the location of their RRR Centre while registering on or before May 20. Along with the details of the RRR Centre, Point of Contact Name, Phone No, address in letter head. Any colony wanting to participate after May 20 can contact the Nodal Officer from DMC. Contact No 7005245917; The Colonies participating should document each day’s work in short videos and photos (preferably GPS Photo); Minimum 5 and Maximum 10 Images (Resolution size <1MB), Minimum 1 and Maximum 2 Videos (Resolution size <5MB); The Date of commencement for the competition will be from May 20 till June 3; Submission of collected items can be submitted on May 27 and June 3, timing will be from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm at DDSC Stadium, Golaghat Road; All collected items will be judged based on weight and points will be allocated as per the items enclosed as attached; Only 6 items mentioned shall be collected and kept in a segregated manner, Items collected can be racked or placed in a clean area; Declaration of result will be on June 5; Winner of the Competition will be awarded with cash reward and certificate.
