Metsubo assures establishment of SIRD training facility at Panso

Pathso Shingtap celebrates Khautshauhsie festival 

NOKLAK, JANUARY 16 (MExN): Pathso Shingtap celebrated the Khautshauhsie festival on January 14 at Panso headquarter with Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamir highlighted the significance of festivals as a time for reconciliation and unity, emphasizing that they go beyond celebrating the harvest. He addressed the aspirations for the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), expressing optimism that the dream would eventually be realized. 

The Minister also urged the people to take leadership roles in bringing development to the region, stating that the remoteness of the area is not an excuse for underdevelopment. 

He encouraged for judicious use of development funds and stressed the importance of preserving culture and language. Jamir also assured to establish a State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) training facility. Earlier, Jamir inaugurated the Block Development Office building at Panso headquarter and unveiled the monolith.

Advisor for Tribal Affairs & Election, Tovihoto Ayemi extended warm festival greetings to the community and praised the diversity of the Naga people, who coexist harmoniously through the ages. 

Highlighting the government’s commitment to equal development, he stated that efforts are being made to ensure justice for every district. Speaking about Noklak, one of Nagaland’s youngest districts, he said that it has many areas for growth and development. Ayemi urged the people to place their trust in the government and the district administration whose collective efforts can bring better development.

The significance of the Khautshauhsie festival was shared by M Lusha, Convener of the Planning Committee, who explained that the festival, celebrated in the first month of the year, marks the conclusion of agricultural activities. He also elaborated on the meaning of the festival’s name, with "Khautshauh" referring to a bamboo mug with a straw, and "sie" signifying rice beer brew.

The program was chaired by Sangtsoi M and Peshem P, while invocation was pronounced by Pastor T Langshie, PTBT and welcome address by L Buming, President, Pathso Range Public Organisation. Special number was presented by Lengnyu youths and Kingniu King Band and vote of thanks by Benei M Lamthiu, MLA & DPDB Chairman, Noklak. The program culminated with benediction by Pastor Mokom Pathso Baptist Church.
