Musicians Guild (MG) is all set to hold MG Music Awards 2022 on June 18 at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma near Kohima. The award ceremony will start from 5:00 pm onwards.
The organizer announced free entry for audience and invited all the music lovers to be part of the event.
The award ceremony will also witness performance by Nourhe, ZT Slingshot, Imliakum Aier & The Electric Cool Kid, Asu J FT, Imsongdi Imsong, Big Dane, Bozio Nienu, Hime, Akhrieze, Mezanuo, Achumla & Albert. Ruopfhuzhano Whiso will host the award ceremony.
Addressing a press conference here at The Heritage, MG Advisor, Yanpvuo Kikon said that the basic idea behind the need to have MG Music Award is to establish an institution in the state which encourages artistry of high standards and to acknowledge artists who write, compose and produce original songs.
“We want to encourage our musicians to start competing not just among ourselves here in Nagaland but we want them to compete at North East and national level,” Kikon said.
With this vision, MG has decided to have this competition at the NE level.
“With this idea, we want to make Nagaland a truly creative hub in the region, he said and maintained that Nagaland has many creative people and talented musicians. We want to encourage all the young people to start producing original content, not just singing covers,” he said.
He said that MG have opened this competition to all north eastern states and so far received 235 entries.
The award will feature 11 categories; Best Rock Artist, Best Indie Artist, Best Rap/Hiphop Artist, Best Gospel artist, Best Folk Fusion Artist, Best Electronic Artist, Best Pop Solo Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group, Best Sound Engineer, Most promising artists and Song of the Year.
7th World Music Day on June 21
MG President, Melekhoto Pucho told the media persons that MG will also be celebrating 7th World Music Day on June 21 at The Naga Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima. It will start from 4:00 pm onwards. Entry fee has been fixed at Rs 200.
“We believe that this music day is like a birthday for all the musicians,” Pucho said adding that world music day is the only time where all the musicians can come together under one umbrella to perform for the fans.
This event is initiated by Symphony Academy of Music, Kohima in collaboration with Shiu Lights, Indihut, San Production, Out Loud Inc, HDM and powered by Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Nagaland.
The event partners include 2K Hotel, Biryani Express, Rinyu Studio, Kros College, Amaris, Fun Tree Crew, SGE, Zion Drops, Yachu Ki, de Oriental Grand, Whito School, The Heritage, AK Tools Hub, Kohima Computers, AK, P2 Print, Unica, Pusa Printing Press, Iris Optical, Imprint, 3E Nagaland, United Traders, Metal Gear and Unitex Powerline.
The music day event will feature artists like Abdon Mech, Temsu Clover, Imliakum Aier & The Electric Cool Kid, Power Faith, KL Pamie, Moko Koza, Dieze Sothu. Prodgs, Senti Kichu, Zayie, After 20’s, Hime, Wishess (Manipur), Lapla Oungh, Fifth Note, Imnaienla, Worngam and Elysian.
“We want to invite everyone, both young and old to come and witness this grand concert,” Pucho said. He added that there will be a lot of food stalls at the venue as well.
