Hectic preparations are in full swing for the Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) platinum jubilee which is scheduled to be held on September 16. Prepping up for the grand celebration, the school organized a mass social work on September 9 and 10 with the involvement of all the staff, NCC cadets, Scouts & Guides. A number of alumni also came forward to help with the work. Nagaland School Education & SCERT minister Yitachu will be gracing the platinum jubilee as chief guest.
Principal of the school, Arenla while addressing a press conference today said that the school has also been renovated on account of the jubilee. She also added that the school’s alumni in Dimapur have sponsored the jubilee souvenir magazine, while the alumni in Kohima have sponsored the upgrade of the school’s library to e-based library. Alumni in Mokokchung sponsored in upgrading the school’s science lab, she added. She acknowledged the contributions of the alumni and invited all former school students, teachers and staff to attend the jubilee celebration. She also thanked the school’s 2011 batch of commerce students for sponsoring PA system, which is to be dedicated on September 14.
The school’s platinum jubilee convenor and ADC Mokokchung, Bendanglila meanwhile thanked the CAWD for their support in preparations for the jubilee and also the AKM for their initiative in installing a drinking water facility in the school. Meanwhile, the programme committee has informed all concerned to be seated by 9:45 am on the 16th September. It was also informed that there will be an ‘alumni meet’ after the jubilee feast. The celebration is to be held at the school’s newly constructed auditorium.
