MGM College holds cultural & literary day

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The MGM College, Dimapur held its annual cultural and literary day on February 24 in the college auditorium.

The day saw the four houses, i.e. green, red, blue and yellow engaged in motley of presentations as well creative competitions displaying the rich cultural heritage of the country at large and their artistic streaks. 

The competitions for the cultural event include winnowing, traditional fire-making, cultural show, folk-fusion song, and cultural dance.

The competitions for the literary event were essay writing, extemporaneous speech, slam poetry, and debate. 

Earlier, addressing the formal session Fuchumo, Assistant Professor, Department of History highlighted on the importance of preserving one’s cultural heritage and the essence of the intangible cultural attributes. 

Keyitwale, Cultural Secretary, MGM College Students’ Union briefed the audience on the significance of culture and reiterated about the importance of observing such a day.

Tiangsen, Assistant Professor, Department of English in her quoted Martin Luther King Jr and urged the students to on rise above narrow individualistic concerns and encompass humanity’s concerns.

MGM Principal Fr Dr PS Varghese, meanwhile appreciated teachers and students for organising the event and also informed that a weeklong cultural and sports events will be held from February 26-March 1.
