DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): MGM College celebrated its annual Cultural-Cum-Literary Meet on February 28 Friday, bringing together students and faculty for a day of artistic and intellectual engagement. The event featured a blend of literary competitions and cultural performances, highlighting the institution’s commitment to holistic education.

The programme began with an invocation by Temjenzungla Aier, Assistant Professor in the Department of History, followed by a presidential address from Fr. Giju George, Administrator, who underscored the role of cultural and literary activities in education. Cultural Secretary Chunchamwiliu Newmai emphasized the importance of preserving and celebrating diverse traditions in academic spaces.

Students participated in a range of literary competitions, including debates, slam poetry, a spelling bee, art contests, and essay writing. The cultural session featured performances such as folk dances, traditional storytelling, a showcase of ethnic attire, and a fusion folk song presentation. The audience was captivated by the winnowing demonstration and a talent show that celebrated the students’ diverse artistic expressions.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony honoring outstanding participants. Ahikali I. Jhaka, Head of the Department of English, delivered the vote of thanks, while Luthokhi Dozo, President of the Evangelical Union, offered a benediction.
