His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius speaks during the MGM Higher Secondary School 38th annual day on November 8.
Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur celebrated its 38th annual day at the school premises on November 8. The programme was presided over by His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese and President of the school, stated a press release received here.
In his presidential address, His Grace Alexios Mar Theodosius said, “Despite our shortcomings, we are committed to the vision and mission of the school to full fill the dream of the founder of the school.” He said that the school celebrates its 38 years of hard work, determination, growth, resilience and collaboration. The journey together was worthwhile because of all the learning, fun, values and skills our students have acquired with the help of our teachers and the support staff. Since the establishment of the school, we are proud of our accomplishments in academics, extracurricular activities and in sports, he stated.
At MGM School we always encourage to develop the talent of every student. Excellence is the hallmark of every MGM institution. We are also proud of the laurels of our students. Our alumnae are well placed in different parts of the world, he added.
He further stated that in the digital era where the focus of teachings and learning changes we focus more on skills and value based education. A major part of children’s formative years is spent in schools. Learning and character development have an impact on their future.
He added that education is a powerful weapon which can use for social change and human progress. Here in MGM, which is a brand in itself, students are promised to get a holistic education environment and physical development. New ideas students receive from school will act as a stimulus to open the doors of their minds and help to ferment new vistas of learning.
In conclusion, he encouraged students to embrace every moment in the school with curiosity and resilience. He advised them to believe in their abilities and told them to make every effort that would contribute to betterment and success.
The theme for this year’s annual day celebration was “The culture mosaic of India.” Various cultural presentations were made by the students of Class Nursery to class 12. Rev Fr Giju George, Vice President of the school delivered the welcome address. MGM Principal, Reji Abraham presented the annual report Highlighting all the achievements, academic and non-academic activities of the school thus far. Anok Konyak, School captain spoke on behalf of the students while Rempeni Lotha spoke on behalf of the Parents.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of class topper students with Mar Theodosius Award. The Diocese Level Mar Theodosius award for students who top in Class 10 HSLC examination was given to Amina Begum who secured 3rd rank in the State and Shiyab Uddin who secured 7th rank in the state with memento and cash award by the President. All the prize winners of competitions conducted during the session were also felicitated by the dignitaries on the occasion.
