Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian (MGOS) Church, Dimapur held Easter service on Sunday morning from 5:00 to 9:00 am. For Orthodox Christians, it was the culmination of 50 days Lent which started on February 11.
A press release from the church informed that this year’s Passion Week service from Hosanna to Easter was led by Vicar Rev. Fr. PS Varghese along with Rev. Fr. Jojo Joseph from Kerala.
On Maundy Thursday, Holy Paschal service was conducted in the morning by Rev. Fr. Jojo. On Good Friday, service started at 8:00 am with Morning Prayer, followed by 3rd hour prayer, noon prayer, 9th hour prayer, procession, veneration of Holy Cross, meditation etc.
Morning Prayer started at 5:00 am on Easter Sunday followed by Easter service and Holy Communion. Devotees from nearby areas and all church members participated with prayer and repentance, the release stated.
After the service, the church organized a farewell program for two of its members, Varghese Mathew of SEWAK and James Daniel.
