MH-10 Kohima emerged victorious in the 17th Imchaba Master Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy 2024, defeating Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) in straight sets during the final match held at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on Friday evening. 

The tournament, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), saw 19 teams compete from across Nagaland.

MH-10 Kohima secured the title with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, and a thrilling 30-28 in the final set. With the victory, MH-10 Kohima was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1, 00,000, along with the Imchaba Master Trophy and certificates. Runner-up CVA received Rs 70,000 and certificates.

Individual honors were also presented, with each recipient receiving Rs 5000. The awards went to Watineken (MH-10) for Best Spiker, Tongpangsunep (MH-10) for Best Setter, and Bendangtemsu (CVA) as the Man of the Tournament.

The closing ceremony was graced by Jacob Yanthan, President of the Nagaland Volleyball Association, who served as the chief patron. In his address, Yanthan expressed his gratitude to the MDVA and the family of Imchaba for organizing such a prominent event. 

Yanthan emphasized that while there will always be winners in sports, participation is paramount. He highlighted the role of sports in steering young people away from negative influences and encouraged volleyball associations across all districts to collaborate in promoting the sport throughout Nagaland.
