MHA agrees to increase chopper service flying hours for Nagaland

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Ministry of Home Affairs has agreed in principle to enhance the flying hours ceiling of helicopter services in Nagaland to 1200 hours per annum from the existing 480 hours.

“With the enhanced flying hours ceiling, the State Government of Nagaland can now induct one more Helicopter in addition to the existing State Helicopter Service to ferry air passengers and patients at subsidized fare including the far-flung and remote areas, affordable by common man,” informed a press note from the General Manager, Nagaland State Transport (NST).

The State Helicopter Service is operated under Subsidy Scheme of Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI at 75% Central Share, reimbursed in the form of subsidy and 25% State Share borne by the State Government towards operating cost of the State Helicopter Service.

With this approval, the Government of Nagaland can now fulfill the requirements as sought by the Ministry, GoI and Guidelines of DGCA for operation of the State Helicopter Service, inducting one more Helicopter in view of the increasing demand of Helicopter Service in the State, it added.

The NST General Manager added that this has been made possible due to the “persistent and untiring effort” of the Chief Minister and the state Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways and Land Resources.
