MHA committee arrives in Tuensang

The three-member committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) constituted by the Centre to study the demand of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) for a separate ‘Frontier Nagaland’ state arrived in Tuensang on Friday.

According to ground reports, the Committee, led by MHA Advisor (Northeast) AK Mishra with Joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau Dr Mandeep Singh and Director of the Northeast division, MHA AK Dhaniya held a meeting with the ENPO and its talk team, and signatories of the memorandum submitted to the Centre.

The meeting was still going on at the time of filing this report.

Over the next two days, the committee is also scheduled to hold a series of parleys with  State Government officials, seven tribal bodies, Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organisation, Eastern Nagaland Students Federation, village chiefs and senior citizens, along with a visit to the International Trade Centre, Dan, Pangsha in Noklak district before leaving for Kohima on December 18.
