24 year old Mhasilhousie Nagi today emerged as champion of the 44th Angami Sports Association (ASA) Wrestling Meet held here today at the Kohima Local Ground.
Son of Neisako Nagi from Jotsoma village, he pocketed a cash award of Rs. 1,40,000.
22 year old Rovilhoulie Pier, son of Megokholie Pier from Khonoma village stood runner up and was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000.
28 year old Zasevikho Meyatsu, son of Methalhouvi Meyatsu from Mezoma bagged third position and received Rs. 80,000 while another 28-year old Zasevito Chusi, son of Vimeyalhou Chusi from Mezoma village stood 4th position and was awarded Rs. 50,000.
All top four winners were from Western Angami Wrestling Association (WASA).
The four other quarterfinalists also received Rs. 10,000 each.
17-year old Menuosetuo Yiese, son of Lt. Khrielatuo Yiese from Kohima village, was declared as “Best Tactic Wrestler” for Naga style and received Rs. 10,000.
Altogether, 72 wrestlers vied for the coveted championship.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. ASA President Er. Neisievilie Lhousa delivered presidential address while ASA Wrestling Secretary Visakhoto Krose administered oath to the wrestlers.
Meanwhile, Freestyle Wrestling will take place on February 12.
The closing function has been scheduled at 12 noon with MLA Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Chairman NSMDC Ltd as the guest of honour.
