Milk chilling plant and DD Lab introduced at Mon

Mon, Nov 29 (MExN): With a view to further produce milk by tapping the local resources, the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary today introduced its 6th state-of-the-art milk chilling plant and a Disease Diagnostic Laboratory here at Mon today.

Inaugurating the plant, Dr N Meyase, director of AH & Vety called for a concerted effort from all boundaries. Meyase also urged the public leaders gracing the inaugural ceremony to help protect governmental complex from the clutches of encroachers.

Also speaking, the deputy commissioner of Mon LT Konyak felicitated the department for initiating encouraging projects for the farmers of the far flung district. “With the arrival of this new technology, I believe the prospects and approach of the farmers towards dairying would be altered towards bigger avenues”, Konyak said. He also urged the department to bring about more of such projects and schemes for the welfare of the farmers. 

Also speaking on the occasion, the president of Konyak Union Tingnyei Konyak stressed on the need for a joint effort to bring about a major facelift in the field of dairying to compete with the rest of the states in the country.

Meanwhile, parliamentary secretary for AH & Vety, Hewoto Awomi in his message felicitated the department officials on their success in carrying out the project successfully. “I have great confidence on your caliber and I believe this plant will not benefit just the people of Mon but, become an exemplary plant in the state” Awomi’s message read.

It may also be recalled that dairy and AH has for long remained an unexplored zone inspite of the potentiality the state holds. Stressing on the need to bring about a change of scenario, Awomi in his message assured that DAN under the able leadership of Neiphiu Rio is bent on ‘bringing yet another white revolution’. He also rued over the huge drain of wealth the state has suffered by importing dairying produce and meat from other states. Awomi also opined the government’s resolution to empower the farmers by reaching development to far flung areas.

Also speaking, Dr A Yhokha, the project director of NSDCF Ltd highlighted the progress of dairying in the state since its formation. 

The meeting was graced by the chairman of Mon town Council, Monpho Konyak, AR Commandant Mon Town, Mohit, host of government officials and dairy farmers.
