PenThrill's 90th publication today, titled ‘Milk & Honey for the soul’ are‘lessons in the form of poems, realizations and thoughts,’ penned down by A Lumtsala Sangtam.
The book which is the young writer’s second, was formally released by Rev Thridong, Pastor, Sangtam Baptist Church Dimapur (SBLD) in a brief ceremony at the church premises.
A Lumtsala Sangtam is an engineer by profession, a passionate writer and a poet. ‘As a believer,’ she shares her life lessons and believes in speaking from the heart about ‘God’s grace.’She maintains a page on Instagramnamed after her debut book ‘Daily Grace’ sharing her experiences and lessons pointing towards the‘Creator.’
Addressing the gathering, Sangtam said the reason she writeswas because she thinks‘we can teach one another, and help one another.’
She believes that if she can touch one soul through her writings and make a difference in their lives, then the purpose is fulfilled.
Having encountered numerous intriguing poetry manuscripts as a publisher, Vishü Rita Krocha said ‘Milk & Honey for the soul’ has been one of them, which has eventually been transformed into a book.
She exclaimed how poetry is no stranger to the Naga community, where the ‘expressions of our ancestors were always very lyrical.’
Maintaining how the Naga forefathers had a song for every occasion, Krocha believes ‘this special gift’ has been inherited by the younger generation, ‘even as we go on to express ourselves in writing,’ she added.
She held that the newest publication was another significant milestone not only for the author, but also in the journey of PenThrill.
Across history, poetry has been a refuge for those who find their voices marginalized in society. “We all know that poetry offers individuals of all backgrounds to share their personal stories, concerns and dreams,” said Krocha.
The remarkable feature about poetry is that it transcends borders and connects people across different languages and cultures. Despite the diverse array of poets, these are some of the core ideas that resonate with people everywhere, noted the publisher in her address.
“Poetry also connects us to our roots and it is important that we carry forward this rich legacy of storytelling,” she added.
Krocha said the book is an attempt to see in everyday life the God who is not absent from it, and was convinced that readers will derive not only joy and pleasure from it, but also lessons and reminders that will ‘allow you to keep growing as a person.’
