Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival from Jan 15-17

Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN), Kuki Students' Organisation Nagaland (KSON) and Kuki Nute Kiloikhom (KNK) is all set to organize the 8th State Level Mimkut mini Hornbill Festival 2019 under the theme ‘Unity & Fraternity’ at Ahthibung Town, Peren from January 15 to 17.
A press release from Media Cell KIN and KSON stated that Mimkut Festival is a post harvest festival, “a major ancestral festival of the Kuki Community of Nagaland observed to perform rites and rituals for bountiful harvest.”


Y Patton, Dy. Chief Minister, H.Khehovi Yepthomi, Advisor Tourism Art & Culture, Namri Nchang, Advisor Water Resources, Er. Zale Neikha, Advisor Youth Resources & Sports, Kailen Singson IRSSE, Dy. Manager NFR will be the special guest for the three-day festival. All the presidents of Naga tribal hohos will also be the special invitees during the festival


The festival will witness unveiling of Lengjang Kuki, Signatory Simon Commission 1929, Statue and Memorable Park, inauguration of Mimkut Monolith, Oldies Nite, musical extravaganza, various cultural Dances, exhibition stalls, indigenous trap display, indigenous games, Miss Mimkut 2019 and more.


Apart from the Kuki community of Nagaland, Angami, Sumi and Zeliang Cultural troupes will be presenting cultural dance during the festival.
17th tribes unity dance by YSU Phaipijang, YSU Chümoukedima and YSU Dimapur will also be showcased during the occasion.
