In commemoration of its 50th year of Wokha District creation, the Wokha District Golden Jubilee Organizing Committee in collaboration with the District Sports Council and Department of Youth Resources and Sports organized a mini marathon and Walkathon today, 18th December under the theme "Run for Renewal and Transformation".

Categories consists open category for mini marathon (Men & Women) and Walkathon for senior citizens of 60 years and above.

The event was supported by MLA Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe and was sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and sports.

Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS) Deputy Commissione, Wokha, flagged off the Half Marathon from the route of Wokha Zero-Point to Public Ground and for the senior citizens, the walkathon started from the route of PWD Junction till public ground.

Later, Dr. Atheo Murry held a pep talked on fitness & health while Khriesinuo Ngacu, fitness trainer highlighted on some technique on fitness.

Former MLA & EX- Chairman Lotha Hoho, Mhao Humtsoe grace the occasion and give away the prizes to the winners of various category.

DSO &YRSO Wokha Libemo Jami in his welcome address thanked all the winners of the various categories, the participants and all the well wishers for making the event a grand success.

211 participants turned up for the race.

Half Marathon for Men was won by Phyobenthung Humtsoe, 2nd was Renthungo Tsanglao,3rd was Chonben Tungoe; while for women 1st was Nzanti Lotha, 2nd was Yingabeni odyuo, 3rd was Lichumbeni Kikon; and for the senior citizens the winners were 1st Yanbemo Ngullie, 2nd Khoshako Erie 3rd Yanpothung Jungio.
