Tuensang, April 1 (MExN): As part of a tour programme, the Minister for PWD, Housing & Mechanical Engineering, P Bashang Chang paid his maiden visit to District Hospital, Tuensang on April 1.  The Minister inspected the hospital wards, ten bedded ICU, labour room and dialysis centre. He also interacted with the in-patients and relatives, stated an update received here. 

In his address, Chang stated that health sector improvement was one of his election manifestos and is emphasising more on overhauling and development of health system. 

Pointing out the “ugly fact” that patients incur more expenditure on treatment at private hospitals outside Tuensang district due to lack of facilities and shortage of specialised doctors and technicians at DH Tuensang. Therefore, he is committed to support and pursue the existing State further for the betterment and upliftment of DH Tuensang. 
Chang also interacted with the staffs and enquired about the various areas that need improvements. 

In the process of interaction, he observed that the hospital requires a “humongous enhancement” and assured the staffs to extend his cooperation in building a healthy hospital.

Earlier, Dr Puse Leigise, Medical Superintendent highlighted various challenges and grievances faced by the DH Tuensang such as non-availability of specialised doctors, surgeon, gynecologist, anesthesia, pediatric and lack of renovation of the existing staff quarter and so forth which needs to be looked into with utmost attention.
