Phek Village | March 5 : Minister for Health & Family Welfare Minister, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu yesterday sought the good cooperation from villages of Phek area stating the previous jurisdiction should be restored under whatsoever circumstances irrespective of party political line, religion, sports and other social set up adding the wider scope of unity lies with bigger jurisdiction.
Addressing the 2011 Phek Village Annual Council Meeting as the special guest, Nienu stated, ‘the district head quarter town of Phek and even name of Phek area are an offspring of Phek Village’ therefore we should never be harsh to our town and our neighboring villages under any circumstances rather we should treat them as our brothers and sisters. Expressing his concern on enlarging the jurisdiction of Phek Area, Azo said, the healthy relationship with our counterparts in terms of culture and traditions which were once practice with good communication should never loss rather we should find ways and means to regain the spirit of loyalty, truthfulness and good coordination with them. He also added ‘we should be polite to them and in the meantime find out a platform to protect each other in times of difficulties and problems one faces.’ The Minister while urging the Phek Village, to organize a friendly get-together with their counterpart inorder to maintain a cordial relationship, added that as part of strengthening their journey, “there is enough money for peace and unity.” He however added that there is no money for greed sections of people.
Focusing on the importance of building up a constant economy, the Health Minister said one should never solely depend on government. He encouraged the gathering saying that at least 20% of the village citizens should engaged in fruit plantation viz; orange (citrus), banana, passion fruit as these items last long. He also revealed that cool storage will be installed at Phek Town within a short span of time.
Urging upon the people to firmly implement the conservation of bio-diversity, Azo said, the present generation is facing a dangerous threat from all corner of the globe-Global warming, he said it is the responsibility of every individual to contribute their due shares by planting more trees. He also made an appeal to avoid jhum cultivation and cutting down of trees. ‘Our future survival depends on our environment,’ he asserted.

Keeping in mind the need to combat with ‘Global Warming’ which poses a great threat to humanity, the Phek Village Council (PVC) under the initiative of Phek Collegiate Forum (PCF) yesterday strongly reaffirmed its earlier resolution to maintain bio-diversity conservation at Khaboru reserved forest area. The organisation have imposed ban on all forms of felling trees, including any form of cultivation, hunting of wild life, extraction of both flora and fauna etc. It further decided to plant more trees as far as possible. Failing to abide by the resolutions, culprits shall be severely dealt with irrespective of individual land owners, groups, clans and so forth. As part of strengthening the resolution of Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), the PVC in its highest decision making platform decided to enforced CPO resolution viz; ban on extraction of medicinal plants, wild life hunt, burning of jungles etc with seriousness.
During the 2011 Phek Village Annual Council Meeting held on March 4, the house unanimously reaffirmed to extent full support to Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, the present Health & Family Welfare Minister in the forth coming general election. The house added that “it will never entertain any other candidates from within the Phekmi community as was previously resolved during PCF seminar last year which comprises of all Phekmi Villages.”
The house firmly resolved to ban rearing pigs in the open and maintain proper sty, any pigs found loitering in and outside the vicinity of the village would be shot dead and further penalization of imposing fines to the owners. It was also resolved to make family toilets compulsory within one and half month times and defaulters will be penalized by the village youth society as deem fit.
Meanwhile, the house expressed gratitude to H & FW Minister Nienu for providing major budget for maintaining the ‘Common Graveyard.’ On MGNREGA and SSA, the house appealed to the village authority to maintain accountability while dealing with the above schemes and added that public will not be a mute spectator in case of any corruption in case of central sponsored schemes.
Later, inorder to maintain a healthy relationship with the neighboring villages, the house resolved to organise a friendly get-together with its neighboring counterparts and solve all disputes under amicable settlement which includes; forest boundary demarcation, other land pending disputes, mistakes committed during its forefathers times etc.
