Two days since allegation of bank fraud emerged against Nagaland Minister for Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along Longkumer, as reported by EastMojo, the Minister has yet to speak on the matter.

Meanwhile, in a seemingly unrelated case, copies of a document surfaced on social media on November 1 purportedly of a Maharashtra court issuing “Arrest Warrant” against the Minister.

As per the contents of the document which surfaced on November 1, the warrant was issued by the Court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Mumbai on August 30. It stated that the Minister has been charged under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. The complainant was mentioned as one Monsher Fire Protection Systems Pvt Ltd.

It directed the Dimapur police to execute the arrest of the Minister and produce him before the court on November 3, 2018, while also directing the Minister to “attend” before the court on the same date. It did not elaborate on other details.

Attempts to reach out to the Minister through WhatsApp for comment and clarification on this matter as well as the allegation as reported by EastMojo went unanswered. The complainant as mentioned in the court paper was also unreachable as there was no mention of contacts in its website.

The Dimapur police when queried on the directive from the Mumbai court responded that it has to go through the records to see if it has received any such request.

With regard to the allegation reported by EastMojo, attempt was made to meet the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur on November 1. An attendant at the DC’s office said the DC has “left for his hometown.”
