
Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has strongly condemned the shooting incident in Nagabazar colony, Kohima were a minor girl was shot at and injured by some unidentified anti-social elements.
AYO President, Khrielievi Chüsi stated in a condemnation note that according to information received, the incident occurred around 3:30 pm on March 1 evening when two persons who were reportedly in an inebriated condition, came to a small pan shop in Nagabazar, Kohima and made demand of Rs. 500. Their demands later came down to Rs. 100. When the minor girl, aged about 11/12 years old, who was helping her grandmother in the shop, was unable to meet their demands, one of the miscreants shot her with a pistol. The culprits then reportedly ran away in different directions.
The victim miraculously survived two gunshots and her condition is said to be stable.
The AYO while wishing the victim speedy recovery, appeals to the public and witnesses (if any) to come forward and assist the law enforcing agencies and local bodies in identifying the culprits and apprehending them at the earliest.
“Such an intolerable and disgusting act where an innocent little girl’s life is targeted upon by inhuman criminals has no place in the society and should be condemned by all,” AYO further stated in the condemnation note.
