Minor school girl raped in Tuensang

Tuensang, March 7 (MExN): A 17 year school girl was reportedly raped by five persons in Tuensang. A press release from Zaonger Village Students’ Union (ZVSU) stated that the victim was reportedly called by her two female acquaintances on the night of February 24, “on the pretext of bringing home some domestic stuff from the locality.”

However, upon reaching the locality, the perpetrators were already seated in a van and drove them to an unknown place. The victim was reportedly held captive for several days where she was brutally raped by five men for three consecutive days and night. Adding more woes to the much inflicted body, the victim was “mercilessly handcuffed and served booze under duress and sexually assaulted beyond human tolerance,” the release said.

The Union has “seriously viewed this beastly act and urged the law enforcing agencies to strictly follow proper procedures as per the Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance, 2018 under which the perpetrators have been booked.”

The Union demanded that the perpetrators “be awarded stringent punishment and should not be granted bail under whatsoever circumstances.” It also demanded the district authority to “compensate the innocent minor victim immediately” which the victim and her family are entitled to, to meet medical expenses and rehabilitation.

In this regard, Achung Jangleh, President ZSU assured that the union shall stand firm in solidarity with the victim’s family and all the right thinking citizens and organizations in their demand for justice in time bound manner.
