Phek, March 22 (MExN): A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in her home while her father was away at work. An FIR was registered on March 18 at the Women Police Station in Phek under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. The accused was apprehended from Dimapur in a joint operation with the Dimapur police, and forwarded to judicial custody. “The public is urged to respect the privacy of the victim and avoid circulating any information that would lead to the identification of the victim. Doing so is an offence punishable under section 72 of BNS, 2023 and under section 23 of POCSO Act,” the Phek Police said in a statement. Investigation of the case is ongoing. Phek Police has assured timely completion with logical result.
