Miraculum Society opens Jayant Skill Centre in Noklak

A state-of-the-art facility, the Jayant Skill Centre, was inaugurated by Dr Nicky Kire ex MLA in the presence of members of the Village Town Council of Choklangan under Noklak district on March 21 .

Marking the second major initiative of Miraculum Society Nagaland, an organisation committed to uplifting children and students’ across the district. Following the success of its educational centre at Noklak, the society has now expanded its outreach with this new skill development hub aimed at empowering local communities, particularly women.

Jayant Skill Centre is envisioned as a multi-purpose facility that will function as a skill development hub, production unit, and marketing platform. It aims to foster market linkages and create sustainable livelihood opportunities by utilising local resources and promoting indigenous craftsmanship.

 

Speaking at the event, Vikuonuo Sachu, former Miss Nagaland and founder of Miraculum Society, highlighted the natural abundance of Choklangan. She noted that the village is rich in resources such as honey, water, fertile soil, and a variety of vegetables and herbs.

“Our centre is meant for everyone. We want to take small steps in channelising local products and showcasing the work of our women,” she said, adding that the initiative reflects their motto, “A little bit of everything,” which focuses on harnessing village potential and promoting local craftsmanship globally.

The organisers expressed gratitude to the Choklangan village Council and the community for their continuous support. Special appreciation was extended to Naila for her inspiration and guidance in establishing the centre.

 

The centre will be managed by the EHLON-NIU Group, a women’s collective known for their expertise in traditional thread-making and weaving, producing items such as bags, shawls, and garments.
Earlier in the inaugural programme Chenogi Semp chaired the event while the welcome address was delivered by M. Hunung.

The establishment of the Jayant Skill Centre is expected to open new avenues for local artisans and contribute to sustainable development in the region.
