Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The NNP+ and NTDP+ Tuensang with support from Legislators’ Forum on AIDS conducted an advocacy campaign on HIV and AIDS with the key stakeholders on May 25 at Town Hall, Noklak. NNP+ President Chongtie Shiu in a press release said that P. Longon, Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Land Resources Development graced the campaign as guest speaker on the theme “Together we can!”
Longon in his address stated that everyone should be fully aware of HIV and AIDS and its consequences. He said that the misconception on HIV and those living with it should be eradicated and show love and care for those who are living with HIV and AIDS. The Minister donated Rs.50, 000 (Rupees fifty thousand only) towards PLHIVs in Noklak.
There was a group wise discussion on the topic ‘The Role of key stakeholders towards HIV and AIDS response” whereby officials under ADC along with Health Care Providers and Political leaders, KBCA, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikem, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Adhoc Town Committee, Church leaders, Dobasis/GBs, Red Cross Society, Teachers and Students have actively participated and pledged to take offer collective responsibility to bring a positive change in HIV response at their own level. The other key resources include Thangpong, EAC, Dr. Akum, SMO, CHC, Noklak, Chongtie Shiu, President, Imtitama Aier, Longyim Tzudir from NNP+ and Heroto, LFA, Nagaland. More than 200 key stakeholders participated in the programme. It was facilitated by Mongshai, NTDP+.
