Miss Nagaland 2011: A Curtain Raiser

As part of the Hornbill Bill festival, the Beauty & Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) will present the mother of all the pageants ‘Miss Nagaland 2011’ on 6th Dec 2011 at the State Academy Hall, Kohima at 17:00 Hrs, Contestants from all the respective districts have confirmed their participation and will be arriving at Kohima on 1st Dec 2011. All the contestants will have their photo shots styled by Nola Longchar, an upcoming fashion stylist. All the pre-judging for the Sub-titles will be done by the Society and the invited judges before the contest. The Sub-Titles for the contestants are: Miss Perfect ‘10’, Miss Mary Kay Beautiful Skin, Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality and Reader’s Choice Award.
The show will comprise of three rounds -  modern ethnic wear, designer and formal round. In the modern ethnic wear round, the contestants will showcase the beautiful, vibrant and colourful Naga attires of different tribes. In the designer wear round, the contestants will sashay down the stage in outfits designed by Rhosou Rhi and friends. In the formal round, the contestants will wear gowns designed by their own respective designers. Ayn Longkumer, Designer, will be showcasing her designs for the fashion sequence. All the contestants make-up will be done by a young and promising make-up artist Ms Sungtina. The Choreographer for the show is Mr Toshizen and  Asenla Lkr Yanger will be the Director of the show.
The pageant will also be promoting some of the emerging new talents in the field of entertainment. Artistes performing for the evening will be Ms Tsapila Anar andMr. Kokliba (Naga Orpheus Hunt 2011 finalists), a dance sequence by the Elementz, and a special performance by Abby Rose Nakro (USA).
Miss Nagaland 2011 will win a cash prize of Rs 50,000, 1st Runner – up Rs 30,000 and 2nd Runner up Rs 20,000/- along with exciting complimentary gift hampers from renowned companies. ‘Miss Nagaland 2011’ will be the brand ambassador for Saakshar Bharat (Adult Education) in Nagaland. Cash prizes along with complimentary gifts will also be awarded to the Sub-Title holders.

PROFILE:

Rhosou Rhi : Rosou Rhi, is today recognized and lately labeled the most sensational Fashion designer in Nagaland. The new Fashion Icon has pulled off tremendous achievements during the precedent years and has since been always moving ahead. He has won numerous awards at home as well as in the NE region for his creative designs. He was credited with the title ''Best and Favorite Designer at a fashion event themed “Magical Thread of North East” held Shillong and Kolkata. The event was sponsored by Ministry of Textiles Government of India in collaboration with the Directorate of Sericulture and Weaving, Government of Meghalaya. He is also one of the members of the Nagaland Designers Association.

Abby Rose Nakhro:  Since age 7 Abby Rose Nakhro has been involved in singing, playing piano and guitar, and dancing. From 1997-2006, she was a member of the renowned Children/Youth Chorus of Greater Dallas. She performed for President George Bush Memorial Day, 2004 and has done performances in Meyerson Symphony Centre, Dallas; Carnegie Hall, New York; and several other locations. She has recorded in WoW Studios, Dallas. Abby regularly sings in local churches, lounges, and clubs, annually performs at Medical Centre of McKinney, plays for weddings, occasionally performs in social functions and orphanages abroad, and plays concerts on college campuses. She has been part of a Bollywood Movie production and has been named a "Texas Music Scholar" and also has been the leader of a dance performance team of 6 people called "Wide Embrace". She is currently working on her forthcoming debut EP .

Imliyanger: An upcoming singer, Kohima

Elemenz: An upcoming and famous dance group from Kohima who have won accolades all over the state for their performance and techniques of dancing.

Ayn Longkumer :
With a strong sense of modernity infused with traditional echoes, her designs have been showcased on numerous ramps. An alumni of NIFT Kolkota, she first won acclaim with the award "Best use of NE textile in Contemporary Style" 2006. She is the official designer of EGON (Ethnic Group of Nagaland), designing for Miss Dimapur 2009 till date. She has also won ‘Best Ethnic Wear Miss Dimapur 2007’ and Get Gorgeous supermodel hunt 2009. She has also choreographed Miss Dimapur 2009. Recently, she was the Show Manager for North East Supermodel 2011.Her forte lies in organic fabrics whilst infusing drama in all of her pieces.
Nola Longchar: A Freelance Fashion Stylist and an NIFT (Delhi) graduate in Fashion communication, Nola’s experience includes ushering at the WLIFW (Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week) Autumn/Winter 2008, worked in visual merchandising for the brand ‘Fabindia’ as a class project, interned for two months in visual merchandising with ‘Liberty Revolutions’, worked as an Event Assistant for two months with FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) for the WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2010. She also interned for two months with ‘Harpers Bazaar’ in the fashion department. She recently launch a note book entitled ‘ Nagas & Fashion : A Kaleidoscope’. She is skilled at Fashion Styling, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Journalism, Photography, Graphic Design & Event Management.
