Miss Phek Pfithu empowers uneducated women

With a vision to impact and help uneducated women to learn about women empowerment and self sustainability, reigning Miss Phek Shefüvi Pfithu initiated a one-day skill training programme on dish wash, handwash and detergent at Matikhrü village of Meluri sub Division of Phek district on Thursday.

This has been initiated under the project “beauty with a purpose” with the theme “sustainability in self efficiency: Embracing womanhood” supported by Vogue Entertainment Nagaland.

Miss Phek said the purpose of the project was to help unemployed women in her community to impart skills which can generate income in a sustainable way and also to let them understand women empowerment, unity and teamwork.

She said “We as title holders aren’t just girls with makeup and attending occasions but rather we are women where we take up the responsibility to learn and help the society.”

Pfithu informed she had planned to teach and educate at least 50 unemployed and uneducated mothers in her village but said due to the harvesting season, many women folk couldn’t turn up. On the training day, an overall total of 12 women turn up for the training program.

She also acknowledged her patrons for supporting her project and making it into a reality

Meanwhile after imparting the training skills, she said the team will produce the products in quantity in order to sell the dish wash, hand wash and detergent in the neighboring Town.  To this, she informed that along with her team and Pochury Students' Union, she would sell the products in the nearby town (Meluri) in collaboration with women associations and other NGOs.

While assured that she will also make sure to give back the profit to these women who had turned up to learn and also make this project successful.
