Reigning Miss Universe India, Rhea Singha and Director, Franchise Operations, Miss Universe India, Amjad Khan arrived in Nagaland on Monday afternoon for the grand finale of Miss Nagaland Universe scheduled to be held on June 10 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA).
Addressing a press conference at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on Monday evening, Rhea Singha stated that it was such an honour to be in Nagaland having heard so much about it. She also spoke about her association with Ruopfüzano Whiso, who participated in last year's edition of Miss Universe India.
Stating belief that the girls would "come very strong and very prepared" she said that she is looking forward to seeing the competition."I heard Nagaland really supports pageantry and I think that's beautiful", she remarked while pointing out that "it's not very common to see that and I am so glad that it is growing, it is expanding and becoming something that everybody knows now."
The Reigning Miss Universe India further emphasised that "Miss Universe is a pageant that supports many causes" while expressing that, "it is also about tourism, telling people and making people aware about where we are and I think that's the most beautiful thing."
Sharing her experience about growing up as an introvert person, she however said that pageantry transformed her life and advised the girls not to have any apprehensions on being open. She also said that pageantry has evolved over the years while asserting that it is not just about the outer appearance but a lot about what you can do for the society.
Stating that it also really elevates and gives the space to speak, she encouraged young girls to dream big and added that, "as a society, we all need to come together and help the girls realise that it can become a reality."
On her experience of wearing the Miss Universe India crown, she said, "it means to carry a legacy, to have a cause to bring about change and to have a voice for the voiceless."
Director, Franchise Operations, Miss Universe India, Amjad Khan highlighted about the journey of Miss Universe India 2025 that started in March and which has covered more than 20 states across India ever since.
He also said that they have had a long association with the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) and expressed, "we have a lot of expectations and we look forward to tomorrow."
The Director further remarked that they have made it easy by bringing the pageantry to the state and also expressed hope that there would be more participation in the coming year.
