Missing' quarantined doctor located at home in Manipur  

Likely to be placed under suspension

 A consultant of a private hospital who went missing from a COVID-19 quarantine centre is a government doctor who is reportedly practicing in the private hospital.

 

The doctor is a medicine specialist of the Medical Directorate of government of Manipur. Authority of the medical directorate has started taking up necessary procedures for taking disciplinary action against the doctor, an official source said on Tuesday. 

 

The doctor is likely to be placed under suspension from his service if his reply to a show cause notice is not satisfied by the department. 

 

A total of 24 staffs of Peace Hospital, Porompat in Imphal East district including doctors and nurses were on quarantine after the second COVID-19 patient of Manipur has a history of getting medical treatments from the hospital before he was tested positive for the coronavirus.

 

Among them was Dr SM Ayub, the consultant of the hospital who went missing from the same hospital where he works and put on quarantine 

 

However, a team of Imphal East district police brought back to the quarantine centre after picking him up reportedly from his house on Tuesday morning. Later, he has been shifted to the special ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

 

 

The Medical department had already served a show cause notice to Dr SM Ayub a.k.a Dr Md Ayub.
