Mission Corona Vijay aims to vaccinate most vulnerable in Mon

Mon, October 26 (MExN): Mission Corona Vijay or The First Million, a campaign of the AIF to ensure vaccination for a million most vulnerable and marginalized sections of the society by reaching out to them was launched in Mon on October 25. 

In Nagaland, Mon and Kiphire districts have been selected for the campaign.

The campaign, to be implemented in collaboration with the District Administration, Mon and Prodigals Home, Dimapur, was launched by Country Director, American India Foundation (AIF), Mathew Joseph at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon.

Among others, it was attended by Director Program, Public Health- AIF, Dr. Mahesh Srinivas; DC Mon Thavaseelan K; Additional Superintendent of Police; officials and staff of District Hospital Mon and office of the Chief Medical Officer, Mon and Civil Society Organisations.

According to a DIPR report, persons with disability, migrant labourers, street vendors, tribal population and women working in the unorganised sector are identified as the vulnerable groups. 
The campaign was initiated to address two main objectives, the AIF Country Director stated at the launch. 

To underscore the importance of maximum vaccination coverage to contain the spread of COVID-19 and addressing the issue of loss of daily income of marginalized sections of the society due to time spent on getting vaccination, Joseph added. DC Mon Thavaseelan K appreciated the  AIF India Foundation for their gesture and requested for their continued support beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
