Mithun farmers attend camp at Yimchong

Longleng, December 20 (MExN): An animal health camp cum awareness programme was jointly organized by ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema and KVK, Longleng district at Yimchong village under Longleng district of Nagaland on December 16 under Tribal Sub head plan.  

A total of 70 mithun farmers participated in the programme. The different activities of ICAR-NRC on mithun were demonstrated by Dr. M. H Khan, Senior Scientist. The different technologies as well as use of different medicine in the treatment of animals were described by Dr. Lilly Ngullie, Subject Matter Specialist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Longleng. She also gave the scientific information related to advanced mithun husbandry to mithun rearers and also use of mineral mixture to improve the health condition of animals. The overview of different diseases as well as importance of vaccination and mass deworming has been highlighted by Jayanta Kumar Chamuah; Scientist. The health check up of total 24 mithun were done and treated accordingly.  

The mithun farmers were given various inputs such as vaccines for Foot & Mouth Disease, Mineral mixture, anthelmintic, various veterinary medicines for first aid to the mithun and other livestock. Meanwhile, a press release stated that the village council Chairman, President, Mithun farmers union and Yangkhi Phom, General Secretary, Mithun farmers union, Yimchong Village thanked the Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema for rendering the noble public service to the farmers of Yimchong village.
