Youth wing of the Congress party in Mizoram strongly blamed a "group of people from outside" the state for allegedly staging demonstration in front of the Mizoram Chief Minister’s office over Bru issue and demanded the state government to make public the identity of the group.
Few days back, it was reported that a "group of people" from outside the state staged a demonstration in front of the Mizoram Chief Minister’s bungalow on Bru related issue.
This unidentified "group" also reportedly submitted a memorandum to the Mizoram Chief Minister on the Bru issue.
On Thursday, the Mizoram’s apex and the most influential student body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), had alleged that the mastermind behind the demonstration and submission of the memorandum seeking protection for the Bru refugees was no other than the RSS.
On Friday, the Congress youth attempted to meet Chief Minister Zoramthanga at his office to ascertain the identity of the group and the memorandum submitted by it in connection with the Bru refugees in Tripura.
This ensued a clash between the police and the Congress workers in front of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) when the youth members were obstructed and prevented from entering the CMO.
The Congress youth wing president, Dr. Lalmalsawma Nghaka said that nearly 150 people belonging to a Madyha Pradesh based Bharat Hitaraksha Abhiyan (BHA) had staged a demonstration in front of the Chief Minister's office on September 7, seeking certain privileges for the Bru refugees, who are to be repatriated to Mizoram from Tripura in October. Among others, the group sought ‘group settlement’ and better protection for the Bru refugees when they are settled in Mizoram.
Dr Nghaka also said that the BHA, which has link with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) entered Mizoram from Tripura through Kanhmun police check gate on the Mizoram-Tripura border on September 6.
The Congress youth leader then said that the youth members attempted to meet Zoramthanga on Friday to ascertain the identity of the group and the memorandum submitted by the "outsider group" on Bru issue. However, the Congress youth failed to do so as they were blocked and denied entry to the Chief Minister's office by state police, he said.
Dr Nghaka also alleged that the state government concealed the identity of the "outsider group."
“We strongly demand the state government to reveal the identity of the group and what was written in the memorandum,” he asserted.
He also expressed disappointment for the denial of the local youths to enter the Chief Minister's office while "outsiders" could do so.
