
Morung Express News Dimapur | November 2 Nagaland continued their impressive display on day 2 of their Ranji Trophy Test match encounter against Mizoram at the Sovima Cricket Stadium on November 2. The day ended with Mizoram trailing by 408 runs, as the Nagaland batsmen managed to put up a mammoth total of 530 runs losing eight wickets, before declaring in 117.2 overs. The top scorer for Nagaland was Abrar Kazi who scored a double century. He remained unbeaten scoring 200 runs off of 215 balls hitting 22 boundaries and 1 six, at a strike rate of 93.02. Captain Jonathan Rongsen scored 72 runs before he was dismissed in the 43rd over. Kazi was helped by steady partnerships with Mughavi and Imliwati Lemtur, who were the other top performing Nagaland batsmen, scoring 58 runs and 50 runs each. Meanwhile for Mizoram, Moia hauled three wickets, G Lalbiakvela and Akhil Rajupt took a couple each and Sinan took one wicket. When play restarted for Mizoram’s second innings, Pawan Suyal struck in the 5th over dismissing Mizoram opener Akhil Rajput for just 6 runs. A second wicket for the Nagaland attack followed in the 9th over, with Abrar Kazi dismissing Sailo for 4 runs. By the end of stumps on day 2, Mizoram were left reeling at 16 runs, losing two wickets in 10 overs. U-23s and U-16s also in action It may be noted that the Nagaland U-16 and U-23 teams are also playing at the Vijay Merchant Trophy and CK Naidu Trophy in Golaghat and Bhubaneshwar respectively. In the CK Naidu Trophy, the Under-23 team took on Sikkim today. Sikkim won the toss and were bowled out for 146 runs. By stumps of day 1, the Nagaland team had managed to score 180 runs losing just 2 wickets in 36 overs. Meanwhile, the U-16 team started their match today against Mizoram, who won the toss and elected to bat first. Nagaland bowled them out for just 58 runs. At the end of day two, Nagaland managed to score 225 runs losing six wickets in 58 overs.
