Mokokchung, April 6 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Vesupro Kezo and other officials, visited Mangmetong village on April 4 for a coordination meeting with village council members in connection with the forthcoming bye-election to the 28 (ST) Koridang Assembly constituency. During the meeting held at Panchayat Bhavan, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the village council is an authorised institution under the government and should carry out its responsibilities without restriction. He said all concerned must ensure a free and fair election process under the Model Code of Conduct enforced by the Election Commission of India. SDO (C) Mokokchung and Returning Officer for the constituency, Nockpai Konyak, also addressed the meeting and urged adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
