
Mokokchung district has witnessed improvements in access to the basic services and amenities over the years, making the quality of life of the masses relatively better and economic growth more inclusive.
This was stated in the District Human Development Report of Mokokchung district, GoI- UNDP Project (Bridging Inequalities towards Human Development) released this year.
While access to services has been expanding in some areas, the quality and reliability emerge as critical issues for services life safe drinking water and electricity, the report stated.
The report stated that acute shortage of regular power supply of safe drinking water in both rural and urban areas must be addressed by providing water reservoir and safe rain harvesting technology.
“There is also considerable scope to explore underground sources. The problem of erratic supply of electricity needs to be urgently dealt with as it is associated with numerous negative economic outcomes including progress of small scale production units and other livelihood activities,” the report added.
