Mkg DPDB chairman calls for plastic-free district

Mokokchung, June 7 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Mokokchung was held on Wednesday at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Nuklutoshi, MLA and DPDB Chairman. The meeting was also attended by Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, T.N. Mannen (IAS Retd).

Addressing the board, Nuklutoshi stressed the need for a dedicated roadmap to tackle plastic waste in Mokokchung and urged the district administration to initiate steps toward making Mokokchung a plastic-free town. Supporting the call, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, said the initiative could be successful with the active cooperation of all departments and stakeholders. He also informed that the chairman will be donating six water dispensers for public use at different locations in the town.

The board approved the proposal for provisional recognition of Little Friends Montessori Pre-School at Tzusapang Sector and resolved to forward it to the Government for final approval.

Coinciding with the observance of World Environment Day, Advisor T.N. Mannen urged citizens to actively preserve biodiversity and protect the district’s flora and fauna. He called on the district administration to strictly enforce the ban on hunting and fishing using chemicals and explosives to ensure wildlife conservation.

In his concluding remarks, the DC encouraged board members to participate regularly in DPDB meetings to effectively deliberate on matters concerning the district’s development. The board also formally welcomed Atsung Walling, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung.
