Mkg DPDB visits State Agri Research Station

Mokokchung, March 7 (DIPR): Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board meeting cum picnic was held at State Agricultural Research Station (SARS), Yisemyong on March 7. The meeting saw a record attendance of the members from all over the district including officers from central government posted in the district Headquarter.   Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman of the DPDB, Sushil Kumar Patel who presided over meeting welcomed all the members and informed them that the intention of the DPDB meet being held at SARS is to enable all the members to see themselves agricultural research activities at Yisemyong, to reactivate the Officers Club Mokokchung followed by picnic. He also introduced a few senior officers who were recently transferred to Mokokchung including Commanding Officer 44 Assam rifles Col. B.N Nayak. The 44 AR Commanding Officer, in his short speech sought cooperation from the members and assured all possible help for the well being of the people in the district.  

Project Officer, SARS, Yisemyong, Dr. D.K Chetri, while a presentation on the activities of the centre informed the members that a total of 857 Land Races of Rice in Nagaland state had been documented out of which two verities: SARs-1 and SARS-6 are under registration with Protection of Plant Variety and Farmers Right Authority, New Delhi. He also informed the members about research works on organic farming. To preserve varieties of rice in the state SARS is drawing up a plan to open Gene Bank in the centre.   Official from District AIDS Prevention Control Unit Mokokchung presented HIV scenario from April to January 2016.  Up gradation of GPS Mekhuli, Registration of Society, Northeast Alliance for leadership Education & Social Transformation (NEALEAST) and renaming of Paper Nagar Post Office to Tsudikong Town Post Office were discussed and decided to forward its recommendation to the concerned departments.   After the meeting the members had discussions on reactivating the Officers Club Mokokchung and to continue its service for the welfare of the needy people in the district in times of emergency as enshrined in its constitution. The meeting was followed by picnic at Yisemyong Recreation Park where all the members took part with great fun. Among others the meeting cum picnic was attended by Assistant General Manager, RBO, Mokokchung, G. Sekar, General Manager, Lead Bank K. Bharali and SBI Main Branch chief Manager, S.C Das.
