Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The government is once again appealed to retain Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Singh, IAS, as chief administrator of the district. The Ao Senden today issued a statement highlighting certain arguments to buttress why the ‘Idol’ DC should be retained.
The Ao Senden in the statement appended by its president Temjenkaba, expressed cognizance that government servants are “transferable” however the demand of Mokokchung’s people are not without reason. The hoho pointed out that the district had been subjected to as many as five times of DC-change during the last five years. Since Singh took over, he has provided able leadership to the district and her people. Several issues in the recent times have hit the district, demanding prudent handling and Singh has been doing the needful thereby resolving or diffusing them, the Senden contended. While there is no guarantee the issues would not relapse, and the people have full confidence in any administrator assigned to the district, it would be much ‘beneficial’ if DC Singh is retained at least for a few months. This is also necessitated by present engaging situation in Mokokchung, the Hoho stated.
Further the district is celebrating its golden jubilee this year the main event of which is to culminate on December 1, the hoho informed. In this regard a number of projects have been started and are hard-pressed to implement and complete within a timeframe. “Behind most of these projects his brain is indispensable. Thus to change the head just on the eve of the finale of the long celebrated event will mean a real blow to the people of Mokokchung” the Senden explained. “If ours is a welfare government in the principles of democracy, will the people’s government be kind enough to respond positively to the voice and desires of the people?” the Senden queried in request.
