DC Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir planting a tree sapling at the District Forest Office premise in Mokokchung during World Environment Day on June 5.

MOKOKCHUNG, JUNE 5 (MExN): In commemoration of World Environment Day, the District Forest office, Mokokchungheld a programme under the theme ‘Biodiversity’ on June 5.
A DIPR report informed that theMokokchung Forest office stressed on the importance of restoring forest, conservation and livelihood with an ‘Adopt a tree’ initiative.
Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir while addressing the participants on the occasion said, “we need individual and community participation to conserve our environment in a way to create an equilibrium which will enable nature to restore back the human exploitations on environment.”
Appreciating the initiative to adopt a tree, he called upon all to contribute back to nature in their own small ways.
Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vishal, IPS and Chairman Marepkong ward spoke on the need to conserve the environment.The programme was chaired by District Forest Officer Dr.Sentitula, IFS.
The department also distributed plant saplings to all the Heads of Offices of various departments under Mokokchung District.
