Mokokchung, March 15 (DIPR): With the rest of the world ‘World consumer Rights Day’ was observed in four Higher Secondary Schools in Mokokchung town on March 15 with the theme “Antibiotic off the menu”, a global campaign to stop the sale of meat raised with the routine use of antibiotics in major international restaurant chains as it is a major risk to human health.
The functions in the four schools, where they have their own Consumers Forums, were sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology & Consumer protection aiming at creating more awareness about consumers’ rights.
In Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Principal, Arenla encouraged the participants to mobilize more action to create awareness among consumers about their rights and to show solidarity with consumer movement worldwide. Post Graduate Teacher, MGHSS, Sevolu Ringa, who spoke on the theme, called for joining hands in the mass consumers’ movement against use of antibiotics in food production and the risk it presents to human life.
