MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 25 (MExN): The Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung has cautioned the public that there have been a number of fraudulent/cheating cases, through the internet, in Mokokchung district. A press note from the SP informed that the conmen befriends the victims through social media. After earning the victim’s trust, the conmen, under the pretext of sending them gift parcels containing laptops and smartphones etc, asks the victims to deposit money in certain accounts in order to release the gift parcels, which have been seized by airport customs officials. The SP informed that there have been cases where victims pay huge sums of money but the parcels never reach them. He urged the public not to be lured into these offers received through SMS, phone calls and other internet facilities. The public has been requested to immediately report to the police if they receive such offers.
