Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): A local youth organization in Mokokchung town has also joined in the demand for ‘evidence’ for the statement of the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung that there are ‘1000 sex workers in Mokokchung’.
Mokokchung Town Lanur Telungjem (MTLT) expressed ‘much trouble’ at the DC’s claim of “one thousand sex workers existing in Mokokchung” allegedly stated during the 18th Watsu Mungdang general conference held at Mokokchung on April 15, 2011.
The youth organization has demanded from the DC to “substantiate your statement by giving us the details of those 1000 sex workers existing in Mokokchung.” “We also demand to know the location of the brothels from which they operate, and to arrest those 1000 sex workers at the earliest,” the letter stated. The organization said it is willing to assist the authorities in any manner “in our own capacity in curbing this social evil in our society.”
“However, if your high authority fails to meet our demand, in coming out with a clear-cut statement clarifying your stand on the issue, and initiating an instant drive against this social evil, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telungjem cautions that there will be serious retributions, and the consequences of which we will not be held responsible,” it added.
