DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): MLA for 13 Pughoboto A/C, Y Vikheho Swu visited Pughoboto sub-division on May 21 and 22 to inspect the ongoing preparation in the wake of the Government of Nagaland ordering sub-divisions including  villages to set up quarantine centers for the Naga students returning  home from different cities.

The MLA was accompanied by the ADC, Pughoboto and Civil SDO, Pughoboto in charge of Ghathashi area.
The MLA observed that Pughoboto CHC has set up quarantine center for 20 beds at the newly constructed outdoor stadium at old Pughoboto (Natsumi). Ghathashi PHC has set up 12 quarantine beds at the Cultural Hub, Ghathashi.

Ighanumi PHC has set up 4 quarantine beds at the village council hall. Before visiting the designated quarantine centers, Swu alongwith the administrative officers visited both the PHCs at Ghathashi and Ighanumi and interacted with the medical officers and staff.

The MLA noticed there is confusion and lack of proper information at the sub-divisional level. The administration and medical officers are unable to supply correct information to the villages. For instance, as of May 21, the MLA noticed the sub division had three lists of returnees to Pughoboto. First the list given by the Government to the subdivision had 41 returnees, the information received from respective village council had 71 returnees, and the sub-division confirmation had 35 returnees. He expressed concern that the sub-division is also not sure how many will be sent to the district headquarter and how many will be arriving to Pughoboto.

During the joint meeting with the village leaders and medical department, he urged the people not to panic or discriminate the returnees in any manner. Stating that there is a detailed safety protocol to be followed for all returnees, the MLA asked village leaders not to make assumptions and create confusion.

He rather stressed on following of all safety guidelines like social distancing, frequent hand washing, sanitizing of public places and wearing of masks. He also urged the village councils to keep travel record of their respective villagers. All unnecessary travel should be restricted even after the lockdown period is over, the MLA added.

Swu meanwhile claimed that the ADC's office in Pughoboto is run “mainly out of the money contributed from well wishers.” “Very nominal amount of money has come to ADC office till date from the government,” he added.

He further reminded the village Chairmen and leaders that Grant In-Aid money  under Rural Department given to the villages this time is for specific purpose like storage of rice, procumbent of medicine for village use etc. and not for household distribution as was done in many villages in the past.

The MLA also lamented the non posting of a Doctor to Kilomi PHC. He further rued that the Ighanumi PHC is without an ambulance. Swu assured that he would take up the matter with the appropriate authority.

Swu meanwhile thanked the individual, organizations and village councils who contributed towards setting up the quarantine centers at Pughoboto, Ghathashi  and Ighanumi.
