
Dimapur, July 23 (DIPR): In view of the flood situation in Dimapur, an emergency meeting with two MLAs of the district, Imtisungit Jamir and Tovihoto, was held on July 22 in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner here.
The DC of Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome apprised the MLAs of the ongoing activities taken up to address the flood issue by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and also about the standby arrangements made ready. Regarding the 4th Mile bridge which has collapsed, the DC Dimapur observed the urgency of the situation and told the MLAs about requirement of more resources and manpower.
The Commissioner of Police and other officers of the line departments also highlighted their preparedness report.
MLA Sungit while referring to the poor drainage systems felt that corrective measures should be taken for the interest of the city. “Strong action should be taken against the encroachers,” he cautioned. Meanwhile, MLA Tovihoto said although disaster is beyond human control, it remains a question of human lives. He expressed appreciation to the district administration and DDMA for giving their best effort and working tirelessly in addressing the flood situation, which he observed has badly affected both rural and urban pockets.
Besides the DC and Commissioner of Police, the meeting was also attended by ADC headquarters, ADC Niuland and Medziphema, CMO Dimapur, EE (R&B), EE (PHED) Dimapur, CEO DMC, administrative officers, and DDMA.
