MLAs have no concern for own Assembly predicaments: NPCC

Ridicules ‘deathly silence’ in State Assembly

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today alleged that the Nagaland Legislators have no concerns for own respective Assembly predicaments.

It resembles a ‘funeral service’ with no one raising anything and everyone maintaining a ‘deathly silence,’ NPCC President K. Therie said in a press statement ridiculing the lack of participation and short session of the recently concluded State Assembly Session held from July 12-14.

“All the speakers in the Assembly speak of achievements resembling a funeral service while their minds and attention are focused on how to siphon off some more funds to bribe the voters in the next election.”

The State Assembly is the highest forum for the people of Nagaland for self-determination but it does not even have question hour, it added.

“This simply shows that Honourable MLAs have no concern over their own respective Assembly predicaments.” While the MLAs reportedly joined together to solve the political problem, not a word was discussed as to how to solve the problem, it further scorned.

“They have hoped that it will be solved soon. They don’t know when and they don’t want to know when.”

NPCC also expressed shock over the ‘deadly silence’ of the MLAs though there are many pressing issues to discuss such as failed fiscal management; non-payment of salaries; anomalies highlighted by CAG Report; hue and cry against back-door appointments; and decaying and depleting infrastructure etc.

In the past, it was the most vibrant State Assembly and issues were discussed without fear or prejudice; solutions and resolutions were adopted giving a new direction to the state, it also maintained.

“Because of the presence of strong opposition, corruption was checked. No Minister or bureaucrat was spared if found corrupt,” NPCC claimed.

The Party further implied that while the administration and the police painstakingly took up the tasks to provide security and traffic regulation during assembly, all such efforts were wasted.
