DIMAPUR, APRIL 20 (MExN): The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) today informed that there have been reports of sale of expired products and packed food items in some shops within Mokokchung Town. A press note from the ADC & Administrator, MMC directed all shops and business establishments dealing in packed food items under Mokokchung municipality not to indulge in sale of packed food items beyond the “best before” date/month/year and after the “expiry date” of the product. Defaulters/offenders are liable to a penalty not exceeding Rs 25000 to Rs 10,00,000 as per the law, the MMC informed. It also asked the public to inform the Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung/Food Safety Officer, Mokokchung, if anyone is found selling such food items.
