Mobius Climate Initiative launched in Nagaland

Dimapur, June 13 (MExN): Mobius Young Climate Leaders for Himalayan Development Project was officially launched in Nagaland by Advisor, Industries and Commerce Hekani Jakhalu, hosted at Lampstand School, Toluvi, Dimapur on June 12. 

As per a press release received here the project is a joint collaboration of Climate Studies and Knowledge Solutions Centre, Department of Science & Technology, and Department of Environment Forests and Climate Change with support from Nagaland Board of Secondary Education and implemented by YouthNet. 

 

The project will impart the pani-pahar curriculum developed by Hearth Advisors and Cambridge University, in 15 selected schools to raise awareness amongst school children and help them understand the significance of their individual and collective climate action.  

Under the Mobius Young Professional Program, selected 15 Young Forestry Graduates will implement the curriculum and facilitate tree plantation, waste management and recycling jointly with schools, communities, and village councils supported by the Government administration, Forest department and Municipals. They will also contribute towards Nagaland Government’s international research initiative launched at the COP 27 Climate conference in Egypt last year. 

Mhalo Humtsoe, ADC Dimapur assured the administration’s support to the schools, communities and all Village Council chairmen present. Dr Atoho Jakhalu, Director, Climate Centre, Government of Nagaland thanked the Mobius Foundation for funding the project and particularly the Chairman Pradip Burman for his visionary leadership and commitment to environmental sustainability. 

The event was attended by Dr Ram Boohj CEO of Mobius Foundation and his team. The programme also marks the entry of Mobius Foundation into the ecologically sensitive northeast region of India and is a significant milestone in the organization's ongoing mission to create a positive environmental footprint across the country.
