
Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): Memorandum of Cooperation, a document describing bilateral agreement, was signed on April 19 between National Research Centre on Mithun- Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Jharnapani, Medziphema and Entrepreneurs Associates, Kohima, a registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 for promoting Mithun farming and developing farmers capabilities in five village of Phek district namely Porba, Pholami, Losami, Enhulumi and Thetsumi villages.
National Research Centre on Mithun is the prime institute in the field of Mithun Husbandry and involved in developing technologies in the field of Mithun rearing and conservation, whereas Entrepreneurs Associates is an organization of the First Generation Entrepreneurs with its headquarter at Kohima, Nagaland engaged in promoting a diverse range of livelihoods activities ever since its formation in the year 2000.
In promoting livelihood, EA has experienced that Mithun (Bos frontalis) farming as one of the best option in the villages having large forest cover without disturbing the existing ecosystem. Based on this experience EA has taken up an ambitious programme with the support of Sir Ratan Tata Trust/Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai “Community Mithun Rearing for livelihood and Preservation of Forest”, where NRC on Mithun has given technological support.
Now the programme has been expanded to five villages and to extend cooperation the EA and NRCM has drafted a Memorandum of Cooperation for successful implementation of this progamme in an efficient and focused way for overall development of mithun reares. EA felt that the National Research Centre on Mithun with its specialized knowledge and vast experience in this field may act as a vital partner to bring grand success to this programme, so this document of Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Dr. Chandan Rajkhowa, Director, NRC on Mithun and Shree Neichute Doulo Coordinator, Entrepreneurs Associates today on April 19, 2013.
